Great Burstead Church
The Mayflower Window
A stained glass window has been installed in the Lady Chapel. The window is in memory of Sammy Norris (1910-1978), who was for many years Treasurer and Churchwarden of Great Burstead and has been made possible by a bequest from his late sister.
The window depicts the Mayflower, the ship which carried the Pilgrim Fathers to the New World in 1620.  The church has a strong local connection with the Mayflower, since Christopher Martin, the ship’s Governor, was himself a Churchwarden of Great Burstead.

Matthew Lloyd-Winder is the artist responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of the window which was dedicated and blessed by the Bishop of Bradwell on Sunday 1st February 2004.
